Your documents and photos are processed only on your device. We do not store scans on our servers.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains the information collection, use, and sharing practices of Phone Scan ("we," "us," and "our").

Unless otherwise stated, this Policy describes and governs those practices with respect to your use of the Phone Scan website, Android app, and related services ("Services").

Before you use or submit any information through or in connection with the Services, please carefully review this Privacy Policy. By using any part of the Services, you understand that your information will be collected, used, and disclosed as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to this privacy policy, please do not use our Services.

Our Principles

Phone Scan has designed this policy to be consistent with the following principles:

• Privacy policies should be human readable and easy to find.
• Data collection, storage, and processing should be simplified as much as possible to enhance security, ensure consistency, and make the practices easy for users to understand.
• Data practices should meet the reasonable expectations of users.

Processing on your device

When you scan a document with Phone Scan, the camera feed and the captured image are handled entirely on your phone or computer. Perspective correction, cropping, and contrast enhancement run locally in the app or browser. We do not receive, store, or transmit your document images.

You can use the Services without creating an account. We do not collect personal data for authentication.

We do not store:

• Document images or scans
• Camera feed or video
• Your identity or account information (there is no account)
• Any content you capture, share, or download through the Services

Information We Collect

We collect information in a few limited ways: when you send it to us, when the Services record basic usage, and when our servers receive a request.

Information you provide directly to us

We collect information you choose to send us, such as when you submit feedback or email us. That may include the message text and any contact details you include. We do not ask for an account, payment details, or a mailing list signup to use the scanner.

Information that is automatically collected

We record basic usage so we can understand how the Services are used and fix problems. This includes:

• Page path, referring site, browser language, and a coarse operating-system label (for example Android or iOS).
• How long a page was visible.
• Anonymous actions such as starting the camera, capture, transform, share, or download. These events do not include the image or document content.
• Error messages and related diagnostic data when something fails.

Each browser or app install may store a random identifier in local storage so we can group events from the same device. That identifier is not your name, email, or phone number. Clearing site data removes it.

Our web servers may also keep ordinary request logs (such as IP address, time, and requested URL) for security and operations. These logs are not used to build a profile of your scans.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. The random identifier described above is stored in local storage, not as an advertising cookie. You can block or delete site data in your browser settings. The scanner will still work.

How We Use Your Information

We may use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including new features and technical support.
• Process and respond to feedback or email you send us.
• Understand usage in aggregate (for example, which steps people complete).
• Protect the safety, rights, property, or security of Phone Scan, the Services, and our users.
• Comply with the law.

We may aggregate or de-identify information collected through the Services and use that data for research and product improvement. We do not sell your personal information.

When We Disclose Your Information

We may share information with providers who host the website, deliver email, or help us operate the Services, only as needed for those tasks.

We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, enforce this Policy, respond to a request from you, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Phone Scan, our users, or the public.

Business transfers

If we transfer or sell assets, information we hold may be disclosed as part of that transaction (including due diligence) and would likely transfer with the Services.

We may disclose information to a third party when you ask us to, or when you otherwise consent.

Where required, we handle information on the basis of consent. You may withdraw consent in accordance with applicable law by contacting us.

Your Choices and Data Subject Rights

You can use the scanner without an account. You can clear local storage in your browser or app settings to remove the random identifier described above.

People in the European Economic Area and some other places have rights to ask whether we hold information about them, to access it, and to request correction or deletion, subject to legal limits. You may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Email team@phonescan.me with your request. You may also contact a supervisory authority, though we encourage you to write to us first so we can help directly.

International Transfers

Phone Scan is operated from Georgia. Information you send us, and limited usage data, may be processed in Georgia or in other countries where our hosting providers operate. Those countries may not offer the same privacy laws as your own. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, we will take appropriate measures required by applicable law.

Security Measures

Scans never leave your device through our Services. For information we do handle (such as feedback and usage events), we use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the limited data involved. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.

Children

The Services are intended for users over the age of 18 and are not directed at children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information (as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) from children under 13, or personal data (as defined by the EU GDPR) from children under 16, we will take reasonable steps to delete it as soon as practicable.

Data Retention

We keep feedback and usage records only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy, or as required or permitted by law. Server logs and backups may persist for a limited additional period. Scans are not retained on our servers because we never receive them.

Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may link to other sites (for example our page on X). If you follow those links, or share a scan through another app on your device, that third party's terms and privacy policy apply. Phone Scan is not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy as the Services change. We will post the new version here and revise the date above. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law. Please check this page from time to time.
